Conclusion: 28th June 2010

The Final Judgment

As promised on my emails to Vodafone (the last one on November 18th, 2009), I submitted the information to Otelo:

Otelo is the Office of the Telecommunications Ombudsman. Our job is to sort out disagreements between public communications providers and consumers using their services.

Whilst this is not a route which leads to a quick resolution of the dispute, they are an independent body who review each case on its merits, whilst giving each party a chance to provide evidence. Below is the initial response to their review of the case.

...so I wrote them a letter. In it, I went in depth into the errors made by Vodafone, adding my own notes to the initial findings, and including a great deal of the paper trail already gathered during the process. Below is that response, in 4 parts (my scanner can only take so much in 1 go!!!). I must warn you before you read on – it’s a total of 88 pages (although much of it you have already read).

Part 2 (8.4MB)

Part 3 (8.4MB)

Part 4 (11MB)

So finally, after much waiting (I know everyone is on the edge of their seats), I received Otelo's final judgement. Barring legal action, this represents the end of a very long road. I won’t comment on the final outcome. It's here for you to read:

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has been following this since I started this website. Your interest, support and comments have kept me motivated. I hope in return you have been entertained, amused, and (possibly) educated. I would also like to thank my brother Carl for his efforts in producing this website, which I could not have done myself. (You're welcome. - Carl)

...Oh. I should also ask you to check out www.virginmobile.co.uk. Their service remains impeccable.

Don't want to read the whole response? Oh OK then. The upshot is here.
